PRESS ARCHIVE Press Release: October 26, 2009 CICCETSS 2009 crowns 9 Class 2009/10 Culture and Charity Queens and honours 3 new Community Champions with IVHES Awards. A sensational welcome speech, by The Worshipful The Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Thomas Chan, Dip HE BA (Hons) FRSA, officially opened the Evening of cultural awareness and community cohesion promotion at the exquisite London Borough of Redbridge Town Hall venue on Saturday 24th October 2009. The Mayor's speech, thunderously applauded by the quality audience of dignitaries and the finest citizens of all nations, set the scene for the delivery of the Evening's most entertaining programme which was electrifying from start to finish.
The highlights included the annual friendly contest between national cultural and charity queens of Commonwealth and other nations for the world's nine most prestigious ambassadorial title crowns for the promotion of community Quality of Life improvement, the presentation of International Voluntary Humanitarian and Environmental Services (IVHES) Awards to nominated community champions, and exhilarating cultural performances by star solo and group artists that brought the roof down. Resounding public praise from the audience included acclaims of the CICCETSS as "a fantastic show", "absolutely fabulous" and "simply the most accomplished international cultural and charity show, ever...!", etc. As usual, the CICCETSS proved to be the world's No. 1 quality of life improvement promotion programme and a promoter of the most entertaining and productive culture and charity pageant.
Nine new fabulous international queens and three new celebrated community champions are the major products of this year's CICCETSS.
The CICCETSS Management wishes to thank The Mayor and Madam Mayor for their patience while they endured the delayed start of the programme caused by unexpected staff absence, and for gracing the occasion by their attendance. The Management also wishes to thank the panel of judges, presenters, back-stage staff, media partners, musicians, dancers, stage engineers, technical staff, photographers, choreographers, caterers, venue security staff, coach and limousine service providers, IVHES Awards recipients, ushers, and the quality audience, among others, for their contributions to making the CICCETSS event so successful and enjoyable. The show was a huge success, maintaining its usual inimitable stylish charm, despite the recession's conspiracy against contestant attendance figures this year.
The Mayor's Message:
Dear Friends A warm welcome to you all for coming to the Commonwealth International Cultural and Charity Evening TV-Special Showcase 2009 event.
I am delighted that this year this Commonwealth event is being held here in the London Borough of Redbridge. As the first Chinese Mayor in Britain, I am proud to be able to represent all the people of Redbridge.
We have residents of many nationalities and cultural backgrounds. There are over 100 languages spoken in the Borough, so we are already very diverse in Redbridge. Tonight we will be even more diverse.
The organisers of this event say they aim to promote a sense of community among people from different countries and cultural heritage. On that basis, I am pleased to be able to attend and lend my support.
As well as raising money for charities, the programme also promises to be a great family entertainment giving us a taste of the Commonwealth, in all its diversity and colourful cultures. I am sure that you are as pleased as I am to be in the audience tonight.
I hope you will all join me in wishing the Commonwealth organisers every success and in hosting a successful evening and supporting a necessary and deserving cause.
With my best wishes
Cllr Thomas Chan Mayor of Redbridge
